We’ve been quietly
rebuilding insurance
for two decades.
uBind launched as a SaaS platform in April 2017, but the team behind it has been building insurance distribution technology since 2006 — first for one of Australia’s largest insurers, then for the industry as a whole. Having processed over $2 billion in gross written premium, the platform powers a growing list of carriers, MGAs, brokerages and insurtech startups across four continents.

Our mission is to make insurance nimble.
uBind launched in 2017, but the people behind it have been working in insurance technology since 2006 — solving the same hard problems over and over until we knew what a real platform had to look like.
Quote & bind systems for one major insurer
Working under the Aptiture brand, the founding team built CGU Padlock (commercial property), CGU uBuild (construction), SUU eQuote (strata) and other systems for IAG — collectively processing 60,000+ quotes a year. Quietly, the playbook took shape.
Appointed to build CGU’s digital direct channel
IAG CEO Peter Harmer asked the team to build CGU’s first digital-direct insurance offering. It proved digital distribution could work end to end. By 2015, John Gamble and Carl Andersson knew the time had come for a dedicated SaaS platform.
uBind launched, and the platform kept compounding
From one customer April 2017 to $2 billion+ GWP, four continents, ISO 27001 certification and PCI-DSS attestation, and a global partnership with Willis (a WTW business). We feel like we’re just getting started.
From the desk of John Gamble
To everyone working to drag insurance into the modern era — we built this for you.
Insurance is one of the oldest industries in the world, and for most of its history that’s been a quiet point of pride. But over the last decade something changed. The customers our partners serve started living their lives inside software. Their banks live there. Their travel lives there. Their groceries live there. And when they touched insurance — at quote, at claim, at renewal — they hit a wall of email, PDFs and waiting.
I’ve spent twenty years in insurance technology, and most of those years convinced me of one stubborn thing: this industry is not broken because the people in it are wrong about anything. Underwriters know risk. Brokers know clients. Claims teams know how to hold a hand on the worst day someone’s ever had. The problem isn’t the craft. The problem is that the tooling underneath the craft hasn’t caught up to the customer’s expectations of what software should feel like.
That’s the problem we set out to solve when Carl and I spun uBind out in 2017, and it’s the problem we still work on every day. One platform. Quote, bind, manage, renew. Direct, broker, embedded, partner. With governance and security baked in — not bolted on. So insurers can launch products in weeks instead of years, brokers can spend their day selling instead of re-keying, and customers can get a policy in three minutes instead of three days.
We’re not here to disrupt insurance — we’re here to unblock it. To give the people who already understand risk the software they deserve. If you’re an insurer, an MGA, a brokerage or an insurtech founder reading this and any of it sounds like the future you want, I’d love to talk.
Six values, in plain language.
Our core values aren’t a poster on a wall — they’re how we make decisions about clients, hiring, product, and which deals we walk away from. If any of this resonates, we’d probably get along.
Develop our people, help them be their best.
We hire for craft and curiosity, then we invest in growth — training, mentoring, real responsibility early. Most of the team has been here for years, and that’s not an accident.
Serve our clients well — under promise, over deliver.
We say no when we should and yes when we can really see it through. The platform we ship is the platform we said we’d ship. That’s why our clients stay.
Innovate always — lead the market in our offering.
We’re a small enough team to ship monthly. Every release is a chance to be one more step ahead. Real time data flows, Embedding and white labelling, Automation, Low/No Code — we got to all of them first.
Fair and reasonable — share in the success.
We share results across the team and price the platform so partners share in upside, not downside. Modular SaaS. No surprise uplifts. The deals work both ways.
Welcome feedback — learn from everyone.
Our best product ideas have come from brokers, claims handlers and underwriters. We do scheduled feedback rounds with every customer — and we listen between them.
Continuous improvement — at every opportunity.
Every sprint, every retro, every customer onboarding leaves the platform a little better than we found it. After nine years that compounds into a lot of advantage.
The team that actually builds uBind.
The senior management team behind uBind — the people who design, build, run, and support the platform. We’ve kept the team small on purpose, so the right hand always knows what the left is doing.
The senior management team.
From one customer to two billion in GWP.
Twenty years of compounding work, marked here in the moments that actually changed the trajectory of the business.

Where we’re heading
uBind has always grown along the same three lines — more capability, more markets, more partners.

- More AI and automation, supporting all of your workflows.
- More markets, more distribution. We follow our partners — direct, broker, embedded, white-label, wherever the customer actually buys.
